So I had a wee panic attack when I tried to record meself, so I've decided to follow the hashtag and support people etc but not upload me own stuff. I will try to practice for at least 5 mins a day though. Hopefully there'll be another 1rad and I'll feel braver.

Panic attacks are awful, it's not chickening out to take care of yourself.

Even if you don't post, try not to give up on the recording. The more you do it, the more you'll get used to the way you look/sound in the recordings and it gets easier. I think of it like I'm desensitizing myself.

DUDE i feel ya. I started a year ago recording myself and I finally don’t feel scared anymore. You just have to get used to looking at yourself, but you’re taking a step back and looking at your artistry. Remove yourself from the process and just see the artist in you as a separate person and you’re just editing what you want. AND done is better than perfect. And is it really prefect ever? No, that’s impossible. I struggled early too, it feels weird to watch yourself. And a little narcissistic...but just see yourself as the artist you are. Don’t give up!

Thanks guys. I'm gonna keep trying. I'll work on the recording thing when I'm feeling better.  😀

Even if you don’t do it daily or do one at some point you would them have done the challenge as it exactly is meant to be used for! You overcame your comfort zone and posted a riff! I posted hot garbage yesterday but it’s done and history so today something new. Once you start doing it gets easier, I have anxiety too but I’ve learned people think far less about me then what I actually think they do so I relax.. no fraud police are watching I’m just present and capturing a moment at a skill I am developing in music nothing more.

I can relate, I did 1 Riff a Day for the first time last year. The first post for that was the first time I had recorded myself. It sunk in as I tried to record myself that I was recording something that the public could see and I was so nervous that I couldn't play the riff I planned and had to play something else. Once I did it, I found out that  this community is very supportive and that recording myself gets easier the more I do it.

I am getting really comfortable with being on camera and now I just post stuff even if I make a small mistake. I actually made my own riff too! I was playing with garage bands little midi and was just noodling around and came up with something. Now I got a lauchkey mini coming because I forgot how I used to play a lot of my little keyboard growing up and then learn the same song on my trombone. Which honestly the guitar is a lot like finding notes on the trombone, just slide away lol.

That’s a great idea (recording oneself anyway).  Will also serve as a record of one’s progress.
