Review: The Martin GPCRSG Stands Behind Quality Craftsmanship

The Martin GPCRSG is about quality, full sound and conscious durability.

The Martin GPCRSG (Grand Performance Model),  a member of the most recently released Road Series, is a worthy companion. On or off the road, it sounds just as resonant and full plugged in, as not.  Its Fishman Sonitone electronics capture and amplify the overall tone perfectly, creating a balanced, full sound, with plenty of attack and character. Martin as a manufacturer stands behind quality craftsmanship, and definitely didn’t underthink this one.

In 1997, Martin created a board of 25 employees, 80% women, to fill an obvious niche:  The rapidly growing amount of women searching for smaller guitars with tapered necks and thinner bodies.  This specific model was created by and for women within the Martin company walls. There, existed a super playable acoustic guitar that held its resonance and tune, which could be amplified to cut through any mix the way it should.

Politically & environmentally conscious shredders such as Portland native Forest Veil, and many others, have been Martin advocates for years following sustainable wood sourcing (Sitka Spruce & Mutenye).  The use of renewable wood sources creates a space for a guitar to exist that is more environmentally conscious, lightweight, and affordable than other high end guitars. The newest edition of this model is made of solid wood, not constructed panels, making for lasting durability and setting it up to be one of the loudest, warmest sounding, most resonant acoustic/electric guitars in the market today.
