Whether it’s a thousand think pieces on Beyonce’s “Formation” video, the fallout over Kesha’s claims and legal battles against Dr. Luke and (#FreeKesha), or coverage of the recent sexual assault allegations against Life or Death PR founder Heathcliff Berru, the conversations surrounding the ways women in music are portrayed in the media need to be analyzed and challenged and necessary. It’s a movement we are all currently a part of nurturing.
Join us for a panel discussion exploring how women musicians and industry members are represented in today’s media climate. Over the last decade, women musicians have come to more prominence in the media than ever before, but despite the growing recognition of their artistry and talent, there are still many obstacles that must be overcome on the road to true equal representation. Our panelists will discuss the ways that women musicians have been represented in media past and present, and the steps that must be taken to ignite future progress.
